What is a Radiologist?

 A radiologist is a medical doctor who specializes in diagnosing and treating disease and injury by using medical imaging techniques.  Having completed at least 13 years of specialized training your radiologist plays an important role in your health.

 Radiologists perform an integral role in your health care.

 As an expert consultant to your referring physician, the radiologist aids in the selection of the most appropriate examination for your needs.  After the examination, the radiologist will interpret the medical images and provide their recommendation for additional care or other treatments if necessary. 

 Radiologists not only diagnose, they also treat disease by means of radiation (radiation oncology), or perform minimally invasive, image guided surgical procedures (interventional radiology).
